Local Government Elections 2027
Ordinary local government elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October. The next state-wide ordinary elections are scheduled for October 2027. The Shire of Dalwallinu conducts in-person voting and voting may be undertaken at the Shire Office (58 Johnston Street) in Dalwallinu from 8am to 6pm or in Kalannie at the Hazlett General Store between from 9am – 12pm.

Stand for Council
If you want to make a difference in your community and have a say in local decision-making, then consider standing for election as a local government Councillor.
In order to stand for election as a Council member, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older;
- Be an elector of the Shire of Dalwallinu;
- Not be nominating as a candidate in another election; and
- Have completed the mandatory online induction course Induction for prospective candidates | LGIRS

Mandatory Candidate Induction Training
On 9 August 2018, a proclamation was published in the Government Gazette, that new provisions are now in force. These provisions require that any person wishing to stand for Council at the October election is required to have undertaken mandatory induction. Unless the training has been satisfactorily completed, the Returning Officer is required to reject the nominations.
