Airstrip

The sealed Nugadong Airstrip is located  9kms North of Dalwallinu on the Nugadong West Road. The airstrip is automatically illuminated by a VHF radio signal activated by the Pilot.

Dalwallinu 24/7 Gymnasium

The Dalwallinu Gym is located at the Recreation Centre Colin Anderson Drive. The Gym was opened in July 2018 and is a facility available for those 12 years and above (with conditions for Junior members). Junior membership is for 12 to 18 years but junior members must be accompanied by an adult member at all times. The facility is a 24/7 access gym that has a wide range of cardio and weight-lifting equipment to accommodate all needs.

*Note memberships must be lodged at the Dalwallinu Shire Admin Office.

Aquatic Centre

Pool

Located at the Recreation Centre on Myers Street, the Aquatic Centre has a 25m pool and a toddler pool. The pools are open from September/October to March/April with the Manager in attendance. Season passes are available for single or families and can be purchased from the Shire Office or the pool. In season you can contact the Pool on (08) 9661 1271.

Dalwallinu Recreation Centre

 

The Dalwallinu Recreation Centre rebuild commenced in April 2018 and was completed the end of March 2019.The Recreation Centre and Recreation Precinct is a $5.4 million state of the art recreation and sporting complex. The centre offers a range of venues within the complex for hire.

The Dalwallinu Shire received grant funding of $1.3m from Lottery West for the Precinct area and self-funded the rebuild of the Recreation Centre.

The Recreation Centre offers:

  • Large air conditioned function room with views to playing fields, and alfresco, AV and audio equipment, seating for 180, standing 300, double door and bar access to kitchen;
  • Fully equipped large commercial kitchen located at the centre of the building with kitchen and bar cool rooms, dishwasher, glass washer and bar access to all sides;
  • Meeting room with 12 seater boardroom table, AV, whiteboard, blinds and air conditioning;
  • Indoor sports hall with line-marking for multiple sports, audio equipment, large cooling fans and double door and bar access to kitchen;
  • Glass wall foyer with views to forecourt, lawns and car park. Able to accommodate functions for up to 50 people, with casual seating, bar tables and door and bar access to kitchen. Air conditioned, viewing window to indoor playing courts;
  • Bathrooms, UAT, baby change accessible from foyer;
  • Home and away change rooms, umpires room located on east of building facing playing fields;
  • Outside bathrooms located to south of building adjacent to carpark;
  • External verandas with views to playing fields, bar access to kitchen on north side from alfresco area.

The sports ground accommodates a variety of sports including basketball, netball, badminton, indoor hockey, hockey, football, cricket and inter-school sports. The Recreation Centre is available for meetings, functions, weddings and a variety of social gatherings.

Dalwallinu Community Hub 

Dalwallinu Community Hub is located behind the Recreation Centre next to the community multipurpose courts. The Community hub has BBQ facilities, picnic and seating area, water fountain, public ablutions, children’s play area and scooter path.

Dalwallinu Discovery Centre 

     

Originally named the Dalwallinu Environmental Interpretive Centre, the concept of this project originated in 2002 by Chief Executive Officer at the time, Bill Atkinson.

The original plans had placed the building out of town however as the project developed it become more viable to construct the new building on Johnston Street, opposite the Shire offices.

The Dalwallinu Discovery Centre accommodates the Shire’s Library, Dalwallinu Tourist Information, Performing Arts Room and kitchen. The Dalwallinu Community Resource Centre is based in the front of the building with teleconference room and facilities, the second story of the centre is leased by Dalwallinu Haulage.

The Dalwallinu Library is located at the Dalwallinu Discovery Centre on Johnston Street. The opening hours for the library are from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

The library stocks many fiction and non-fiction books; DVD’s both movies and documentaries; video’s; audio CD’s, audio cassettes; reference books; Reader’s Digest; books with large print; children’s books, computer CD’s and DVD’s.

If you would like to become a member please print off a Membership Application and personally attend the library during the hours shown above. Please ensure the membership application is completed in full. You attendance is necessary to sign your library card.

Can’t Find That Book You’re After?

If you can’t find that special book, please speak to one of our staff who can order it in for you. The library arranges for items to be loaned from other libraries throughout the state. Once we receive the book we will contact you.

Borrowing Periods And Renewal

The borrowing period for all library items is three (3) weeks.

Items can be renewed once by phone, or as many times as needed in person at the Shire Office, depending on the demand for the item from other library users.

Care Of Library Items

We ask you to please look after your library material carefully. If items are lost or damaged you will be charged for their replacement. The prices are determined by the State Library Board of Western Australia and you will receive an account for the replacement of these items. NO library items may be borrowed until the items are returned or paid in full.

Each member of the library is responsible for the articles they have borrowed, with either Parents or Guardians being responsible for the children’s loans.

Library Cards

These MUST be presented when borrowing books. In the event that a library card is either lost or damaged, a replacement one will be issued at a cost of $5.50 each.

A range of electronic resources are available to access from home. These are accessed through the State Library website using your library membership barcode number. Please enquire at the library for more information. 

Dalwallinu Town Hall

The Dalwallinu Town Hall is located on the corner of Myers and Johnston Street.  The Badimia Bandi Barna Aboriginal Corporation have entered into an agreement with the Shire to use this facility for an Aboriginal Arts & Craft display centre.  This will open as soon as current internal works have been completed.  This facility is not available for hire.

Memorial Park 

  

Memorial park is located on Johnston Street, it has public ablution facilities, tables and seating areas, water fountain and electric BBQs. There is also a children’s play area at the Southern end of the park.

Richardson Park 

Richardson Park Nature Playground is located on the corner of Leahy and Wasley Street, the park was completed in May 2017. The park has disabled access public ablutions, electric BBQs and a picnic area with a range of playground equipment and flying fox.

Dalwallinu Skate Park 

The Dalwallinu Skate park is located at the Southern end of Johnston Street, there is a shaded seating area, water fountain, half pipe and other skate ramps as well as a half basketball court.

Dalwallinu Refuse Site

Located 16kms west of Dalwallinu on the Dalwallinu West Road. Currently the refuse site is opened all hours.
